    There is something cathartic, therapeutic
about writing ideas on an old piece of paper.
Maybe it’s in the way the stained paper feels
beneath your fingertips, your granite paintbrush.
Maybe it’s in the way you can imagine the words
soaring from nothing to something, into history
like an eagle in motion viscose. It holds the emotion
in a jar of formaldehyde and observation perverse.
You can take a piece of paper almost anywhere.
You can take your mind, your very quintessence
and smear it upon a page, close it, open it again,
see the Rorschach patterns that the affair has woven.
